Come join us for a rehearsal
2018-2019 is going to be huge, join us now!
Not only do we have our major concert coming up in October (more details soon), but in April 2019 we’re going on a tour of Japan!
SGLC will be participating in the Hand in Hand Festival, organised by Proud Voices Asia, a network of LGBTQI choirs across Asia and beyond, and we’re looking for new members to join us. We’re particularly looking to swell our Alto and Soprano ranks so if you’re interested in joining us on tour* come along to a rehearsal soon!
Singing with us
Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir is an inclusive unauditioned choir which welcomes all members of our LGBTQI community and our straight allies, regardless of musical experience. Yes it will help if you have some musical ability but there’s lots of opportunities to learn and increase your abilities when singing with us. The easiest way to start is to come along to one of our weekly rehearsals in Glebe on a Thursday evening.
Your first visit is free, we’ll help you find the best section to sit in for your voice and one of our experienced members will help you settle in to the rehearsal. There’s no expectation to sing, you can just sit and listen and join in when you’re comfortable. We do encourage you to come back for 2-3 weeks to make sure you can decide if being part of the choir is something for you. The most important thing is to have fun!
We like to think that our choir is an incredibly friendly, comfortable and nurturing environment, and a great place to make new friends and to experience many diverse and rewarding performance events.
Contact us if you’d like to join us for a rehearsal on Thursday between 7pm and 10pm, or on our monthly Sunday rehearsal from 10am to 4pm, and we’ll send you all the details you need to know. Check our events for upcoming rehearsal dates.
If you’re not quite ready to come to a rehearsal, come to one of our performances which is the perfect way to see and hear what the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir can offer you.
